Monir Barakat

Mr. Barakat is President & Co-Founder of Intervest Capital Partners (formerly Wafra Capital Partners). Monir is a banker with over 50 years’ experience in both commercial banking & investment banking. In the last 20 years, as an investment banker, Mr. Barakat was in charge, & managing over $10 billion in total assets annually, with a turnover of over $500 million in any one year. Monir is the co-founder of ABANA (the Arab Bankers Association of North America), he served as President of ABANA and was on the Board for several years. Mr. Barakat is a leader in the Lebanese - American social & cultural activities in NYC. He served on several not for profit entities & NGO’s: He was chairman of the LAU Health Care Foundation (part of the Lebanese American University) & was actively involved in negotiating the exchange of funds donated by” USAID’ a US government agency, based in Washington, DC. Monir sits on the board of Renee Moawad foundation (RMF), an old & prominent NGO and the only one entrusted by both US government & EU countries with distribution & managing of donated funds, dedicated to the reconstruction of Lebanon. Mr. Barakat serves currently on the board of the National US-Arab Chamber of Commerce (NUSACC), a Washington based organization involved in supporting trade between US and the Arab World. Monir is also actively involved in the activities of the Maronite church in New York. He is a co-founder of the Maronite church in Sleepy Hollow, & is helping out in its growth from original 6 founders, to over 120 families today. Mr. Barakat holds a bachelor degree in economics from the American university of Beirut (AUB) & continued his graduate studies in business (MBA)at Pace University, NY. Monir was granted recently the Ellis Island Medal of Honor, an honor bestowed by an affiliate of the US government.c
