Thanks to your invaluable support, we are nearing the completion of astate-of-the-art Alzheimer's treatment center, a pioneering facility in theregion. This achievement marks a significant milestone in our journey to provide specialized care and advanced treatment for Alzheimer's patients, made possible by your generous contributions.
Christ the King stands as one of Lebanon’s most cherished landmarks, overlooking the coastline as a symbol of faith, hope, and resilience. Our shared aspiration is to reopen the doors of this remarkable center to pilgrims from around the world, while also creating a place of dignity and compassionate care for seniors—particularly those living with Alzheimer’s disease, for whom there is currently no properly dedicated facility in Lebanon or the wider region. This 176-bed center will include 60 specialized beds devoted to Alzheimer’s care, with the remaining capacity designed for senior living in thoughtfully appointed accommodations, including suites, double rooms, and select triple-occupancy rooms. The facility will feature a fully equipped balneotherapy center, a physiotherapy center, and a wide range of activity spaces designed to foster wellness, engagement, and community.Renovation of the project began in 2007 but came to a complete halt in 2019 due to Lebanon’s economic crisis, leaving the property in severe disrepair through 2025. A transformative moment came when Mr. Joe Audi visited the site, recognized its extraordinary potential, and generously pledged $4 million to complete the construction works. Thanks to this commitment, we are now working toward reopening the center this summer, beginning with the sanctuary—ensuring that every pilgrim can approach the Redeemer closely, ascend to the statue, and experience the site through an accompanying museum and devotional spaces. Funding has also been secured in the amount of $1.1 million for the balneotherapy center. At this stage, we are seeking support to equip the facility with 170 specialized senior beds and the necessary medical equipment to deliver the highest standard of care. This initiative will significantly ease the growing needs faced by the Sisters and the communities they serve. Those interested in supporting this meaningful project—whether through financial contributions or in-kind donations—are invited to reach out to Rita Makhlouf at USA@63crossing.com. Amidst the ongoing geopolitical instability in Lebanon, the reliability of central power grids has become worryingly uncertain. In response to this challenge and to guarantee a continuous supply of electricity for the essential services we provide, we are shifting towards a more sustainable and reliable energy source: solar power. This transition to solar energy is not just a pragmatic solution to the current power instability, but also a step towards a more sustainable and environmentally responsible future.
